Cheaper and faster big creatures:
In any mission where you can make your races 
big hard thing do what is needed for you to be able to get it. 
When your ready and have the unit needed (EG Captin for the oblinox) with all 
the bio upgrades instead of telling it to upgrade into the collosus, 
click the worker button. It should make your captain into a collosus 
without the use of resources and alot faster.
